How do Day Retreats Work?
Bring your machine and projects, set yourself up, and enjoy three days of sewing and camaraderie! Or if your calendar is full of conflicts, choose one or two days and join us when you can. This is a great, low-pressure way to meet up with other people in the Guild.
We've reserved their event space upstairs, so there's plenty of room. Each night you'll go home and sleep in your own bed, but you can leave your stuff at Quilting Mayhem and it'll be ready to go when you return the next day. On Saturday we have added a small room to accommodate a few more folks, and we can stay until 8:00pm on Saturday!
What to bring:
- Your own sewing gear and projects
- Cutting mat (there are a few on hand, but not many)
- Task lamp, if you like lots of light on your work. The lighting in the room is good, but more never hurts.
- If you want a design wall, you may wish to bring it. Quilting Mayhem has a few pieces of foam board covered with flannel (about 4 x 8).
- There is a refrigerator (no freezer) and microwave if you wish to bring your lunch. There are also multiple small restaurants within a 5 minute walk.
If you forget something, their large shop is just downstairs and retreat participants get 15% off!
What you don’t need:
Irons, ironing boards
Extension cords
Important Notes
If you’ve never sewn at Quilting Mayhem before:
There is a parking lot and lots of street parking around the shop. You can park near the front door to unload, but then please move your car to the street or to the far end of the lot to leave spaces close to the door for shoppers.
Large carts are available to load your gear onto, and an elevator to take it to the second floor.
We should have enough tables to reserve one double table as a workspace to sandwich quilts.
