Social Sewing Bee

for Giving Quilts

(Meeting in Tukwila)

Bee is derived from the Old English bēn meaning “a prayer, a favor.” By the late eighteenth century, bee had become commonly associated with the British dialect form, been or bean, referring to the joining of neighbors to work on a single activity to help a neighbor in need: sewing bee, quilting bee, etc. (dictionary.com)

Join in a sewing bee with other guild members to work on giving quilts for our community or come to be social and work on your own project. We will be providing material for a new Giving Block that uses turquoise (we provide) black and white fabrics. Come and make one block or several.

Please bring:

  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread
  • Cutting Mat / Rotary Cutter / 24” ruler
  • Iron
  • Bring a lunch, or use a local restaurant in the area
    • Coffee and Tea are provided courtesy of Quality Sewing and Vacuum
  • A project or two if you aren't planning to work on a Giving Block
  • Black and white fabric to work on a Giving Block
  • Any Shining Star Blocks (even if they aren't complete)

Come for the whole day or drop-in for a portion of the time.

Please bring any Shining Star blocks from the November sewing bee if you have any - even if they aren't done!

Location: Quality Sewing and Vacuum, (Tukwila)
1203 Andover Park W, Tukwila, WA 98188

Meeting Host: Marion Lisko

We hope you'll join us!
