Guest Speaker:  Laura Petrovich-Cheney, “From Threads to Sawdust”

Laura Petrovich-Cheney (@laurapetrovichcheney) is a nationally recognized, award-winning artist and teacher. She is a sculptor, quilter, visual artist, educator and fashion designer, whose interests in textiles, wood working, and environmental concerns have created a diverse body of work. Her presentation will describe her journey starting as a self-taught, novice teenage quilter, then weaves in how the fashion world, teaching and ultimately a devastating hurricane inspired the idea for her wood quilts. She will share how she found new channels of creativity to tell her story and to discover inspiration when she was least expecting it.

We will have breakout rooms before and after the meeting.  When you join the meeting on Sept 8, I’ll put you in a breakout room, so you can chat with a smaller group until 7pm.  Similarly, after the meeting, I will open some breakout rooms so that anyone who wants to hang around and chat can do so.
